A site made up of many small firms

Bitterfeld-Wolfen is built differently from Leuna. Where Leuna has around a hundred companies on 1,300 hectares, here more than three hundred share 1,200 — from global corporations down to thirty-person operations. Evonik, AkzoNobel, Linde, Dow and Heraeus run plants on site, and between them sit speciality chemicals, plastics processing, laboratories and a great many service providers. For a fitter that means one thing: your client is rarely at the main gate, but somewhere in the network of works roads. Spend ten minutes looking in the morning and you have lost the advantage the short drive gave you — ask us, we know the entrances.

Why the A9 matters here

The chemical park lies four kilometres from the A9 Berlin–Munich, framed by the B100 to Halle, the B184 to Dessau and the B183 to Köthen. That makes Bitterfeld the most practical work site in the region for crews travelling from further away: if you drive home on Friday and come back on Monday, you are not spending half an hour in town traffic first. Our accommodation in Bitterfeld-Wolfen sits so that you reach the motorway quickly in either direction.

When Bitterfeld is full: Delitzsch

We do not have unlimited space in Bitterfeld-Wolfen. That is why Delitzsch belongs to this work site: 15.7 kilometres, nineteen minutes on the B183a, five more units including a house with eight beds for a whole crew under one roof. For projects that arrive in waves — four people first, then twelve — that is the difference between a yes and a no. Tell us early how many it will be; we then plan across both towns.

After the shift

The Goitzsche lies right on the doorstep — a flooded former opencast mine that is now a lake with a beach, shoreline paths and a marina. After a shift at the plant it is the shortest route to something that does not look like work. Stay longer and you soon notice that Bitterfeld has more water around it than industry. Shopping is in the town centre, and for anyone without a car: Bitterfeld is on the Berlin–Munich high-speed line.
