Why they are building here

The Bad Lauchstädt energy park is a real-world laboratory for the energy transition — and the first place where the entire green hydrogen chain comes together at industrial scale. A 50-megawatt wind farm supplies the electricity, a 30-megawatt electrolyser turns it into up to 6,000 cubic metres of hydrogen an hour, making it the largest facility of its kind in Germany. A converted natural gas pipeline carries the hydrogen 25 kilometres into the chemical industry of central Germany, and a salt cavern store is to hold it when more is produced than taken off. None of this is routine — it is being built, converted and commissioned, and that brings crews in from outside.

Long assignments rather than short peaks

A chemical site calls fitters in waves: shutdown, overhaul, quiet again. A project like this runs differently. Pipe fitting, electrical and control systems, cavern technology, commissioning — these trades work one after another at the same site over months. For you that means you do not need a week, you need quarters. We book from four nights with no minimum term and settle at fixed rates from ten nights a month — over half a year of construction that is a different price from the daily rate.

Halle or Merseburg?

Either works. From Halle-Neustadt it is 16.7 kilometres and twenty-two minutes, from central Merseburg 15.7 kilometres and twenty-five — shorter but slower, because the route runs on country roads. The difference lies less in the driving time than in what is around it: in Halle-Neustadt we have the larger units and more of them, while Merseburg puts you closer to Leuna if the same crew has work there too. Tell us where your second site is and we will quarter you accordingly.

Getting there and supplies

Bad Lauchstädt lies west of Merseburg, reached via the B91 and the country roads towards Querfurt; the A38 is a few minutes away. Our accommodation in Halle and Merseburg comes with parking, including for vans. The town itself is small — shopping and eating work better in Halle or Merseburg, and both are on the way home.
